I recently saw survey figures from the Retail Preference Index and it has listed the best retailers in the country. They are the retail giants here in America.
When you look at the RPI rankings, it’s no surprise that Amazon is at the top of the list, and names like Walmart, Target, BJ’s, and Trader Joe’s also feature there. These, as I said, are the “big” retailers in the country. So what about one we don’t have here at Shore in Ocean or Monmouth counties…

The chain store we don’t have here at the Shore is market basket. I’ll be honest, I’ve never heard of it and would love to hear your feedback.
- Deborah: I shopped at the Franklin Lakes store and loved it.
- Amanda: I think I visited one in Massachusetts, I think that’s what it was called. MDR. If so, that was good, reminded me of Shop Rite
- Tammy: I love this place
- John: Really fresh food
Looking online, it looks like Market Basket, originally from Massachusetts, falls somewhere between Whole Foods, Aldi, and Trader Joe’s. Looking at some articles it seems that Market Basket is cheaper than Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s. According to a survey, only Aldi was cheaper than Market Basket and nowadays we know that “price” is the number one factor for people when shopping.
I think we could use a market basket in both counties. Let’s take one in Monmouth County…in which city? and one in Ocean County… in which city?
