Fairfield Shop & Stroll returns this week


FAIRFIELD, CT – Prepare your holiday gift lists. The ninth edition of the Fairfield Shop & Stroll is scheduled for Thursday.

Participating businesses in downtown Fairfield will be offering extended hours of operation and an assortment of free seasonal refreshments. Buskers will fill the air with holiday cheer.

The Town of Fairfield and the Chamber of Commerce are once again partnering with Fairfield Moms for the event. The evening will begin with happy hour at 5:00 p.m. at Old Post Tavern, 1418 Post Road. There will be special food and drink discounts and free “Buy Local Fairfield” tote bags, while supplies last.

Fairfield Moms will also sponsor a festive after-party starting at 8 p.m. at The Sinclair, 1229 Post Road, which will include extended happy hour offers and music.

“I really look forward to this event every year and am delighted to see this year’s new additions to the program,” First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick said in a city press release. “It’s a festive and fun evening where we can come together again to support our local businesses.”

This year’s event will feature a 90-minute ice sculpting demonstration starting at 6 p.m. at Sherman Green by world-renowned ice sculptor Bill Covitz of Ice Matters. Additional ice sculptures will be on display at several locations in the city center.

Shop & Stroll will also feature vocals from singers from Fairfield Ludlowe High School and Fairfield Prep High School.

Shoppers looking for a quick pick-me-up can drop by Sherman Green for free hot chocolate and s’mores from BE Chocolat, and relax on lounge chairs by the fireside furnished by Outdoor Design & Living.

Across from the Sherman Green, Saugatuck Sweets and Café Piccolo will be open during the event, serving waffles, coffee, cappuccino and espresso. Additionally, shoppers can enjoy a seasonal drink at JB Percival Co., 62 Unquowa Road. The company will serve Caribou, a hot and hot red wine from Quebec.
